We were lucky enough to attend John and Linda’s wedding and then forty years later we helped them celebrate their Ruby Wedding Anniversary.
We planned to meet at a small hotel in Oxford. Firstly, they arrived three hours late, apparently the satnav didn’t know the way to Oxford!! Then John told us that he had booked us into the second-best restaurant in the town. So that evening we put on our glad rags and went to find this exclusive eatery.
We eventually found it in a location that you wouldn’t necessarily associate with fine dining. When we entered the restaurant, our hearts sank a little but luckily we were seated at a table with chairs, as the majority had wooden pallets covered in rugs! We must admit the food was delicious and cheap (needless to say) and we even received a compliment from the waiter saying how smart we all looked!
